Catalyst 2960-X switches are stackable managed devices of fixed configuration, have built-in access protection functions and simplified installation and operation procedures, as well as the necessary capacity for Smart Install, onePK and OpenFlow technologies.
Having replaced the devices from the Catalyst 2960-S series with ports 10/100/1000, the Catalyst 2960-X switches support backward compatibility with them, including when stacking (in this case, up to 4 switches can be combined into a stack; without this, up to 8 WS-C2960X switches can be combined into a FlexStack stack).
Main Features:
More modern dual-core CPUs, the amount of DRAM and Flash memory has been increased by 2 times, the number of supported VLANs, MAC addresses, SPAN sessions, buffer size, etc. has been increased. WS-C2960X switches have Netflow-Lite support for all downlink/uplink ports for traffic monitoring.
Energy saving technology through the use of wireless access points with PoE+ technology and Cisco DX650 Class 4 IP phones connected to 48-port Catalyst 2960-X switches. As a result, energy consumption is reduced by 27%. Additional energy savings can be obtained by using Cisco Energy Wise, Energy Efficient Ethernet, Downlink Hibernation and Switch Hibernation technologies – thus, the overall reduction in energy consumption can reach 80%.
The Catalyst 2960-X switches support network programmability. They are ready to use Cisco onePK, a set of tools for developing, automating and quickly creating services in software-defined Cisco Software Defined Network (SDN) networks.
The fifth in the family is routing at the third network layer (L3) with intelligent consideration of the features of each application, which makes the Catalyst 2960-X the most intelligent switch in this family.
